I am a qualified Counsellor & Psychotherapist with the Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy in Ireland (IACP).

As a Counsellor Psychotherapist I employ a Humanistic approach to counselling. I encourage self-awareness and self-realisation in an individual. I believe people have within themselves all the resources they need to lead healthy and fulfilled lives.

As a counsellor I see myself helping clients to discover and access within themselves the restricted resources they need to solve problems. Helping the client safely find their way to the solution.

I always believe in the best interests of the client and treat everyone with dignity and respect in a non-judgemental authentic approach. I am very empathic towards a client as I learn and understand their feelings and experiences with great sensitivity.

I use many different styles of counselling depending on what the client is presenting with. I am also a great believer in straight forward talk therapy. I think an individual talking about their issues and knowing that they are been genuinely listened too by their counsellor, can start to bring about some positive change.

People like to know they are heard. For me, it is the core of counselling, the client must feel the counsellor is there for them, and the counsellor has listened to and understood everything they have said.

About me, why I became a counsellor. I have always had an interest in people and enjoy helping people. Before I became a counsellor, I worked in the Banking industry for many years. When the banking crash came in 2010 life in Banking began to change very fast. So fast, it started to affect my mental health. A friend suggested I attend counselling and I discovered it brought about positive change for me. After much research I decided to change my career and study Counselling and Psychotherapy.

So having my own life challenges and experiences through the years, I now would like to help and support others who are going through, or who have gone through, challenges in life.

Areas I work in:

Work related issues, low self-esteem, anxiety, stress, depression, suicidal ideation, anger management, bereavement and loss, social anxiety, relationship issues, Cancer support, abuse, trauma.
