Geraldine holds a BSc (Hons) Degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. She is a pre-accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and adheres to its comprehensive code of ethics.
Geraldine employs a humanistic approach that combines various therapeutic modalities, allowing her to tailor her work to meet the needs of each individual client. These approaches include Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy, among others.
In keeping with the philosophy of humanistic psychology, Geraldine firmly maintains that people have within themselves all the resources they need to lead rich and meaningful lives and that problems occur as a result of restricted or unavailable problem-solving resources. Geraldine sees her role not as one of directing clients in how to address their problems but rather, as one of helping clients to discover within themselves the restricted resources they need to solve problems on their own.
Geraldine values the importance of building strong therapeutic relationships based on trust and respect. She endeavours to provide a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental safe space for clients to facilitate deep inner reflection and exploration with the view to make lasting change. She acknowledges that this takes time and patience but one that is worthwhile. She strongly believes in the importance of a personalised approach and looks forward to collaborating with clients to help them achieve their personal goals and lead fulfilling lives.
Geraldine has extensive experience supporting others both in a voluntary and psychotherapy capacity. She has worked with individuals on a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, adverse childhood experiences, relationship difficulties, trauma, and suicide ideation. She attends regular clinical supervision to monitor her work with clients. She believes that receiving meaningful feedback in clinical supervision fosters a culture of continuous learning and improvement in healthcare, which is essential for staying up-to-date with the best evidence-based practices and delivering safe and effective client care. She also regularly attends seminars and training for the same.
With a deep commitment to understanding the complexities of the human mind, she hopes to make a lasting impact in the field of psychotherapy, guiding people toward healing and self-discovery. Her goal is to create meaningful connections that foster growth and resilience in those she serves.
