Hello, My name is Kathleen Nugent-Cusack. I am an accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist, and hold membership with the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP). My qualifications include a BSc. degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Sociology (with studies in Psychology). I have had additional specialist training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and hold a Professional Certificate in The Therapeutic Practice of Mindfulness.
I work as an integrative practitioner. I incorporate various therapeutic approaches to facilitate the individual needs of the client. Therefore, I draw from various therapeutic modalities to tailor to the client’s unique needs. I incorporate elements of CBT to address thought patterns and behaviour and Humanistic and Person - Centred Therapy to foster a non - judgmental and empathic therapeutic relationship. I will provide a safe and empathic space for the client to explore and to reflect on their journey to healing and growth. I also take a holistic stance in working with clients, as through my experience I have gained an understanding of the different facets that can shape the human experience.
I have over 10 years of experience, with a wide range of presenting issues. I have worked in various settings, which include EAP services, private practice, the HSE and health centres.
I also have specific training and experience in working therapeutically with people who identify as neurodivergent. I have attended many neuro-affirming talks and workshops, leading to an understanding of neurodivergence, including autism, and the impact that it can have on the mental health of an individual.
