Biography:

Hi, I’m Laura – I’ve been practising psychotherapy for almost 5 years now. I currently hold a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the Irish College of Humanities and Applies Sciences, Limerick (2021) along with a Diploma in Psychology of Counselling (2018), a certificate in Couples’ Counselling from PCI College (2024) and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (2012) from NUI, Galway. I am a pre-accredited member of the Association of Professional Counsellors and Psychotherapists Ireland (APCP) and abide by their code of ethics, recognising the importance of safety, respect and confidentiality in the therapeutic relationship.

The principal aim for my practice is to create a safe, non-judgmental, empathetic space to support my clients so that they feel comfortable discussing their personal life experiences and exploring their needs and desires for personal growth. I aspire to empower individuals/couples to develop insight and achieve their full potential by way of exploring their mental, emotional & physical needs and creating space for positive change.

I predominantly practise an integrative approach to therapy, whereby I will use ideas and techniques from different schools of thought to fit the unique needs of each individual or couple. As an integrative psychotherapist, I believe that there isn’t just one therapeutic approach that can help a client in their journey, every client who walks through the door is different. I take a detailed account of you as an individual or within your couple, your circumstances and experiences, and use elements of different approaches to help you explore and cope with your problems, develop a deepened awareness of the self, holding space for you to meet your mental health wellbeing needs. By combining various tools and strategies from numerous therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Person-Centred Therapy, Humanistic, Mindfulness, Somatic Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy, I aim to provide all round support that makes therapy unique for each person/couple.

I have experience working with individuals and couples from different cultures and backgrounds and I recognise how mental health struggles are viewed differently across countries and cultures, which can also have an impact on wellbeing.

I am available to work with individuals and couples for both short term and long-term therapy.
