Biography:

Hello there! My name is Gerard O’Dea, and I am a pre-accredited counsellor and psychotherapist with the National Association for

Professional Counselling and Psychotherapy (NAPCP).

Life challenges and mental health issues can be exacerbated by feelings of shame, invalidation, and isolation. The first step toward addressing those feelings is talking it out. I provide therapy sessions with a humanistic, integrative approach, taking the time to respect the individuality of each client and create a safe and non-judgemental space. My approach focuses on encouraging clients to explore their issues openly and avail of strategies that work for them at their own pace.

My counselling sessions to date have primarily centred around LGBTQ+ issues and neurodiversity. This stems from my passion for being

involved in Dublin’s LGBTQ+ community, and my extensive experience working with neurodiversity and individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities in the social care sector.

Well done on taking the first step and for reaching out. I welcome the opportunity to encourage and empower you on your therapeutic journey and personal growth.
